Author: Lexxi Callahan

Publication Date: June 25, 2013
Synopsis: Jen Taylor has loved Stefan Sellers all her life. When he surprised her with an engagement ring, she thought all her dreams were coming true. But when she discovers Stefan has an agenda that she never even suspected, she breaks off the engagement and goes to pastry school in Paris. Now she’s back in New Orleans, and she has no intention of marrying him for all the wrong reasons. She just has to convince him that marriage is a bad idea. If only she wasn’t having so much trouble convincing herself.
Stefan Sellers has waited years to make Jen his wife so when she wanted to go to pastry school, he decided a few more months wouldn’t matter. But six months later, the girl he picks up from the airport shows very little resemblance to the quiet, sweet girl he let fly away from him. The girl that came back from Paris is wearing five inch stilettos and waving an attitude that is laying waste to everything Stefan ever thought he knew about Jen. His calm, methodical approach to life is suddenly under siege and he can’t seem to keep his hands off her.
Review: What the fuck?! Like was I seriously supposed to find Stefan appealing?! He was an asshole to Jen for three-fourths of the book. An emotionally abusive, overbearing asshole who manhandled her when he didn’t get his way. Like really … She makes it known from the beginning that she doesn’t want to stay with him yet he takes her to the house he’s bought ‘them’ and refuses to take her to stay anywhere else. When her friend comes over (I forget his name now) he’s a complete jealous asshole to him and in turn is to her as well. When she wants to open a cupcake bakery, and her and previous mentioned male friend come up with the business plan for it Stefan is all ‘No not happening’, ‘No I’m not giving you the money that is yours, (in a trust from her parents) that somehow I was left in charge of’. Like seriously dude? Fuck off. He’s supposedly ‘in love’ with her but refuses to say that he is and nothing in his actions show that he is. I wanted to punch him the whole entire book. Jen and Lizzie are the only redeeming/good parts of the book and they were sadly still overshadowed by Stefan the asshole. Just ugh. This book. Ugh. This is a good example of how NOT to do an ‘alpha male’.
(Oh before anyone wants to cuss me out for the amount of times I’ve called Stefan an asshole, or before someone tries to defend his behavior, just don’t. I speak from experience when I say Stefan is an asshole. I’ve been emotionally abused and there is NOTHING you can say that will excuse his behavior or make it okay. You are more than welcome to like him but don’t try to get me to. He’s an asshole, plain and simple.)
