Title: Cast in Ruin
Author: Michelle Sagara
Series: Chronicles of Elantra
Publication Date: March 3rd, 2011
Synopsis: Seven corpses are discovered in the streets of a Dragon’s fief. All identical, down to their clothing.
Kaylin Neya is assigned to discover who they were, who killed them and why. Is the evil lurking at the borders of Elantra preparing to cross over?
At least the investigation delays her meeting with the Dragon Emperor. And as the shadows grow longer over the fiefs, Kaylin must use every skill she’s ever learned to save the people she’s sworn to protect. Sword in hand, dragons in the sky, this time there’s no retreat and no surrender…
Review: Again another good book by Sagara. I still have the same complaints about Severn as I had previously, that hasn’t gotten any better. I am extremely excited about the new female character. I hope she has a big role, there are very few female characters in this book. There aren’t very many important ones and the only one we see consistently is Kaylin, we see Teela occasionally but not nearly enough for my liking. I wanted more of Nightshade, he’s not really an antagonist I’d say he’s an antihero, but I really love his character and I really, really wish that he had more of a role in the series. I really hope that there is more of him in book 8, Cast in Peril.
