Synopsis: Being a mechanic is hard work. Mercy Thompson, for instance, just spent the last couple of months trying to evade the murderous queen of the local vampire seethe. And now the leader of the werewolf pack, who’s maybe-more-than-just-a-friend, has asked for her help. A book of fae secrets has come to light and they’re all about to find out how implacable – and dangerous – the fae can be.
OK, so maybe her troubles have nothing to do with the job. But she sure could use a holiday..
Review: I really loved this one. This is the book we finally get Mercy and Adam as a couple, complete with mate bond. One of my favorite scenes is in this book. It’s when there’s a small uprising from three of the pack members because they don’t like that Adam made Mercy is his mate and one of the males challenges Adam. Well the female that was involved realizes that she has been manipulated and the guy she was dating, not the one who made the challenge but the third member, didn’t really care for her. So Mary Jo then challenges the male, Paul I think is his name, which is a big deal because females are not considered part of the pack hierarchy even if they are more powerful than the males, they are still at the bottom. So Mary Jo is told she first has to go through another male before she can challenge Paul and she says no she’s more powerful than him and should be higher up, the male that is technically higher than her just because he’s male agrees that she should be above him and Mercy backs her up and Adam lets the challenge stand. This is a huge deal because the hierarchy of the packs is super sexist and it’s always bugged me. Anyway even though I was always annoyed at Mary Jo for this whole thing and she realizes that she was wrong and tries to make amends for her actions. This is the scene that stands out most for me in this book. I also love what Mercy does for Sam and the lengths she goes through to protect him. I just seriously love this whole series. It’s just amazing and one of the reason I fell so much in love with werewolves.
Recommendation: Definitely. Moon Called is the first book in the series!
