Title: Tempted by the Soldier
Author: Nicolette Day
Series: Falling for You
Publication Date: February 24th, 2014
Synopsis: Road trips are supposed to be fun. Or, at least, full of hot sex. For photographer Lilly Grayson, the fifteen-hour drive to her friend’s wedding with Nate Jennings will be neither. Not that Nate isn’t sexy—the man is six-foot-three-inches of mouth-watering Marine. But Lilly’s been there, done that…and he walked away. Now it’s time for a little payback. The kind that’ll make a man desperate for a taste of what he can’t have.
And Nate wants a taste—so badly that he can barely keep his hands on the wheel. But the scars and ghosts of his last tour still haunt him. He can’t give into temptation, not this time. Lilly deserves a whole man—one who can love her the way she deserves to be loved, even if she doesn’t believe it can happen. And that can’t be Nate. Not when he’s leaving again in two weeks, and this time, he’s not sure he’ll return.
Review: When I requested and received this from Entangled I did not realize there was a first book and I felt like I was missing something while reading this one. Despite that it was still a pretty good book. I was able to read it in a couple of hours and was entertained the entire time. There is quite a lot of unresolved sexual tension between Lilly and Nate, which created a lot of bickering and teasing. I think the sex scenes were more sweet than hot. Nate and Lilly were enjoyable and their story kept me entertained. The pacing was good, nothing dragged or felt rushed, overall an enjoyable read.
The only problem I had with this book was that while I was reading several things from this book make me think of another author’s book. They were just too similar for my taste. (Two brothers, one military, one non-military who falls in love with his bff. The military brother denies his feelings for the friend of his bro’s girlfriend, they finally end up together. The military bro has to go on another military tour, returns after around 7 months. Proposes while in the airport.) I had to double-check a couple of times to make sure I had not read the previous book in this series, I kept linking the two together.
Stars: ★★★ (3.5)
Recommendation: Go for it 🙂
I received an ARC of this book from Entangled Publishing. This in no way affected my review.
