waiting on wednesday

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by breaking the spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week’s pre-publication “can’t-wait-to-read” selection is:

17563080Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop
Publication Date: March 04th 2014

After winning the trust of the terra indigene residing in the Lakeside Courtyard, Meg Corbyn has had trouble figuring out what it means to live among them. As a human, Meg should be barely tolerated prey, but her abilities as a cassandra sangue make her something more.

The appearance of two addictive drugs has sparked violence between the humans and the Others, resulting in the murders of both species in nearby cities. So when Meg has a dream about blood and black feathers in the snow, Simon Wolfgard—Lakeside’s shape-shifting leader—wonders whether their blood prophet dreamed of a past attack or of a future threat.

As the urge to speak prophecies strikes Meg more frequently, trouble finds its way inside the Courtyard. Now the Others and the handful of humans residing there must work together to stop the man bent on reclaiming their blood prophet—and stop the danger that threatens to destroy them all.

I am desperately waiting for this book. I read the first one in one sitting and was so bummed that the next one wouldn’t be out for a year. The world that Anne Bishop has built here is amazing and has almost every element I love in an Urban Fantasy book. Can it be March now? Please?

Other books in this series:
Written in Red

Ah it’s amazing! There’s hints at possible future romance but this one definitely focuses more on the characters and plot. I need to re-read it but there might start to be a little towards the end of the first book but it’s something that didn’t happen over night and happened because they got to know each other.

She has, she includes maps and other appendix information for the reader. It’s very helpful. This is the second book, the first one is Written in Red. Thanks! 🙂
