Author: Aimee Carter
Series: The Blackcoat Rebellion
Publication Date: November 26th, 2013

Synopsis: For Kitty Doe, it seems like an easy choice. She can either spend her life as a III in misery, looked down upon by the higher ranks and forced to leave the people she loves, or she can become a VII and join the most powerful family in the country.

If she says yes, Kitty will be Masked—surgically transformed into Lila Hart, the Prime Minister’s niece, who died under mysterious circumstances. As a member of the Hart family, she will be famous. She will be adored. And for the first time, she will matter.

There’s only one catch. She must also stop the rebellion that Lila secretly fostered, the same one that got her killed …and one Kitty believes in. Faced with threats, conspiracies and a life that’s not her own, she must decide which path to choose—and learn how to become more than a pawn in a twisted game she’s only beginning to understand.

Review: First off I want to warn you, if you don’t have the time to read this book in one sitting then I suggest waiting. There is a very good chance that once you start it you won’t be able to stop. Dystopian novels aren’t a genre that I am crazy about, I find more of them are misses for me than hits, but this one has to be the best dystopian novel that I have ever read. I am absolutely in love with it, the world, the characters, everything is just great. I love that Kitty isn’t that stereotypical ‘strong-I’m-going-to-kick-everyone’s-ass’ character. She’s one of the more real characters that I’ve read in a long time. Also, you’ll be thankful to know, no love triangle! I didn’t see that ending coming, this is definitely a good book, a lot of twists and turns it definitely kept me on my feet. I really can’t wait for Captive to come out.
